  • How to record a video chat with QuickTime Screen Recording

I made this video for people who want to record a video chat in Skype, FaceTime, Google+ Hangout, iChat / Messages, or any other videoconferencing app— but can’t record within the app. Not to worry. As long as you have the latest Mac OS and QuickTime, you can record anything on your screen!

  • Update on my thesis on VL in ASL

I am working on my master’s thesis on vague language (VL) in American Sign Language (ASL). As far as I know, not much has been published about vagueness in ASL and nothing has been published about “VL” in ASL aside from my article in the RID Views. For my thesis, I’m doing a literature review of what has been written about VL in world languages and vagueness in ASL— even if the topic of the publication wasn’t “vagueness” per se. After a review of the literature, I will contribute a description of at least one aspect VL in ASL. My goal is to help ASL-English interpreters recognize VL and interpret it faithfully to serve the communication goals of deaf and hearing consumers.

If you know of any literature about VL in ASL—or any type of vagueness in ASL—please leave a comment. Thanks!

  • WordPress or Blogger— or Both?

I am thinking of blogging more on Blogger to integrate it with my Google account. I’ve been using Google+ since before it went public, and I like the integration of other Google services I use; one of those services is AdSense, and I recently learned that I could earn money for original content I post on Blogger. I can’t use AdSense on my hosted WordPress site, danielgreene.com, even though I create a lot of compelling content and get a good number of views there. I don’t pay WordPress not to place ads, so they are the only ones profiting from my content. Granted, WordPress is a wonderful free service, so I owe them something, but I still feel that I should benefit from my hard work.

I would like to hear from other WordPress users who use Blogger as well, or have switched from WordPress to Blogger. What are the pros and cons of each platform? Do you have any suggestions on what I might do with this blog that might be different or similar to my other blog?
