My views on politics, religion, health, intimacy, and more

  • The “what would you do if you found cash” scenario just happened to me

I just saw two $20 bills on the floor in the airport in a long walkway between two terminals. No one behind me or ahead of me except a pilot who saw them too. I wasn’t going to just leave them there! I could actually use the money right now, so just in case it was meant to be manna from heaven I pocketed the bills. To be fair, though, I went to the nearest paging assistance location to report the money to lost-and-found. Then the pilot walked up with a guy and said, “This is the guy who dropped the money.” So I said, “Okay! Here you go.” Glad it worked well for all concerned. I feel sort of icky about picking up the bills, but if I had left them there, someone less honest than I might have taken them and not reported it. I guess I did the right thing.

    What would you do?

P.S. In a weird turn of reciprocity, I left my laptop on the plane, which I’ve never done before, and was able to claim it the same day. No damage, no identify theft, all good. Thank goodness for honesty!

  • Went out for our eighth wedding anniversary

Andy & I dressed up in the matching shirts we wore for our wedding eight years ago, went out to dinner at Mi Pátio Mexican Restaurant, and shared a hot fudge sundae at Pink Spot Coffee & Ice Cream. Had fun!

  • Made the most delicious banana walnut bread

Made the most delicious banana walnut bread

We had ripe bananas and walnuts in the house, so I decided to make banana walnut bread. I had never made it before, so I Googled for a recipe. I found and used this banana walnut bread recipe from Martha Stewart. OMG nom nom nom!

  • Missing the Greene in Smithers-Greene

My dear husband is away at WOU in his final stay in Oregon to wrap up his Masters degree. Not sure why this time seems so different to me, but I sure do want my husband home soon.

  • Sexting revisited

I just saw a video of Dan Savage’s thoughts on sexting, and it reminded me of my blog post on sexting that was published in a book on the subject. One funny thing that has come up since then is the Anthony Weiner (not Wiener) sexting story, in which — contrary to Savage’s forecast — there is a big deal made about a guy sexting his dick. I wonder if Savage is right that everyone will have a “dirty picture of themselves” online some day. I don’t know. Will we, as Savage predicts, elect a president who has a pornographic photo of themselves online? I don’t see why not. Eventually things get out of control and no one cares anymore.
