  • Why I don’t tell people I’m a sign language interpreter

Instead of telling them I’m a sign language interpreter, I like to screw with people’s heads. I love to see whether they react differently to “interpreter” as opposed to “sign language interpreter” or “interpreter for the Deaf.” When I tell people I’m an interpreter, they inevitable ask what language. I can then say, “Sign language, American Sign Language” (like “Bond, James Bond”). When I ever-so-debonairly stress “American,” they usually ask, “Oh, isn’t sign language universal?” And BAM, that’s when I tell them it’s not!

    This impresses upon them that:

    1. An interpreter is an interpreter,
    2. A signed language is a language, and
    3. American Sign Language is not the only signed language.

What’s in a name? Oh so much.

  • Technology companies have got it all WRONG!

Here is my thought for the day. Why don’t technology companies (Google, Apple, Motorola, Samsung…) stop suing each other to hell and back and produce the best, most effect, NEW products. Years old patients that have become passé and are basic building blocks of our communications systems across all brands, need not be a reason for another damn law suit. This is all paid for by the consumers, not the manufacturers. I cannot believe that a iPads “look” is protected. A car is a car, a tablet is a tablet, a tv is a tv. they look similar because of functionality with the human body. Do business and stop litigating. Earn our dollars the old fashion way.

  • I think that our business with Netlix is…

I think that our business with Netlix is about to end. What company would charge you 60% more just so they can expand into Mexico and South America? Netflix is who. I know when I’m being screwed and this will not be the company that does it to me!

  • Please take time to watch the post just…

Please take time to watch the post just below this one of our legal marriage in CA. This marriage caused no one any harm. No one can hate such a beautiful moment. No one anywhere in the US should fear gay marriage as an affliction on the holiness of matrimony. Any person, straight or gay, deserves equality in this civil society. This evening brings hope to many more Americans.

  • Daniel and Me had the pleasure to go…

Daniel and Me had the pleasure to go to San Diego and get married the first day of summer June 21, 2008. We wanted to do this as a statement of legally binding our love in a more formal way. The sad part about it is that same sex marriage has been taken away from those that want it now. As the courts fight over weather on not this should be legal, we are a few of the lucky ones that are. Happy Anniversary to my loving husband on this our third year of our legal marriage
